World Food Day Show by Right2Grow

This World Food Day, our consortium Right2Grow will be hosting the World Food Day Show at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam. Join us!

During the World Food Day Show we’ll reflect on global hunger and food insecurity, and explore diverse ways in which local food systems can provide solutions. Should we continue to produce food locally and on a small scale, or dhouls we shift to large-scale production? Should we return to nature or embrace technology?

The World Food Day Show will also be the national premiere of the movie ‘The Future of Food’. In the film, Joris Lohman (Food Hub) and Hidde Boersma (science journalist and founder of Sugar Rush Film) explore two opposing visions of the future of our global food supply. That of ‘the Wizard’ and ‘the Prophet’.  What are the right choices and solutions for the global hunger problem? Watch the trailer below:

The film will be followed by a panel discussion. In addition to the makers of the film, Madelon Meijer will participate, policy advisor on agriculture and food for Oxfam Novib. We also welcome South Sudanese Ogen Rwot Denish, an advocate of Hold the Child Organization (HCO) – partner of Right2Grow. Member of Dutch Parliament Derk Boswijk (agricultural spokesperson for the CDA) will discuss the role of the Netherlands when it comes to developing sustainable food systems worldwide, and Annelies Kanis, director of The Hunger Project, will close with a fiery speech.
